*** EVENT FOR THE REMEMBERANCE OF THE 1974 TRAGIC EVENTS/TURKISH
INVASION IN CYPRUS ***
7.30pm Thursday 20th July 2017 – Greek Cypriot
Brotherhood Centre, Britania Rd., London N12 9RU
The association was formed back in the 1980s to bring together Famagustians and
friends of Famagusta, but also to act as a pressure group for the return of the
Town to its rightful owners.
The Association has played an effective role both within the Cypriot Community
here in the UK but also in highlighting the unique circumstances surrounding
the Turkish occupation of the town of Famagusta to successive UK governments
and the EU. It has also maintained a close link with the Municipality of
Famagusta. The association is non-party political.
The website is dedicated to all Famagustians wherever they may be living now,
having being uprooted during the Turkish invasion and subsequent occupation of
our Town in August of 1974. We hope to keep you informed of major international
political decisions regarding the Town, meetings of the association with
decision makers and functions celebrating the past role of the Town as a
cultural, tourist and commercial centre.
· To represent our
Association on the political front concerning Famagusta. in the United Kingdom,
Europe and Cyprus
· To Lobby Governments and
other Organisations on the Cyprus and Famagusta issue
· To update our members on
the latest political developments concerning Famagusta
· To increase effective
communication between our members through organising cultural and social
events.
· To keep members informed
of the Association's activities
· To keep the resolve of
returning to Famagusta alive and pass it on to the next generation.
We would welcome your help in building the
website by sending us suggestions and any material you may have relating to
Famagusta, which you would like to share with other Famagustians or friends of
Famagusta. Apart from photographs, you may also like to share and help document
memorable events, stories and festivities relating to everyday life in
Famagusta.
We will endeavor to keep you posted of any events that are organized relating
to Famagusta in the UK, in Cyprus and anywhere else in the world. We would be
more than happy to include these events in our events calendar. We will try to
provide links to sites which we feel may be useful or be of interest to you and
